Kavita Kharat completed her Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from Mumbai University. During her studies, she developed a strong foundation in subjects like accounting, finance, and economics. She started her professional journey in US Tax at SurePrep working on individual and trust tax filings. This experience gave her a strong base in taxation and helped her better understand IRS guidelines. Her hard work earned her a promotion to Tax Reviewer, where she was responsible for reviewing tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance. In addition to her core responsibilities, she also led a team on the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) project. In 2018, Kavita received the opportunity to work in the US, which further enriched her professional experience and broadened her global exposure. After 23 years with SurePrep, she took the next step in her career by joining Prosperity’s VGS Team as an Assistant Tax Manager, where she continues to apply her knowledge and leadership skills in a dynamic environment.
- Favorite thing about my job: My favorite part about my job in US taxation is navigating the complexities of tax laws and regulations. I enjoy analyzing client situations and finding the best solutions to ensure compliance while optimizing tax outcomes. Another thing I love is the constant learning. Tax laws are always evolving, so staying up-to-date keeps me challenged and engaged. Lastly, I love collaborating with my team to review complex tax returns and lead projects. It’s great to combine our expertise to deliver accurate and efficient results!
- What is the best dish you can cook? Paneer/Chicken Biryani
- Favorite vacation you’ve taken? My favorite vacation I’ve ever taken was in Bhutan. This was a truly unforgettable experience. I loved exploring the beautiful landscapes—from the serene monasteries perched on cliffs like Tiger’s Nest to the peaceful valleys and vibrant local markets.
- Favorite way to celebrate your birthday: My favorite way to celebrate my birthday is with close family and friends over a relaxed dinner. I love the simple moments and good conversations.
- Favorite Concert you’ve attended: My favorite Marathi concert I’ve attended was the live performance of Janata Raja. The energy and passion in their music was electrifying, and the entire audience was fully engaged, singing along to every song. It was an unforgettable experience that beautifully showcased Marathi culture and musical talent!
