Matthew Segelcpa

Matthew Segel graduated from Colorado College with a degree in Political Science. A lifelong learner, he continued his education at the University of Vermont and St. Michaels College to earn the right to sit for the CPA exam. He has worked for a small number of Vermont CPA firms and currently serves as a Senior Tax Accountant with Prosperity!

EXPERTISE: Tax Theory and practice

• Favorite thing about my job: Working with clients to properly help them meet their tax obligations in an efficient and thoughtful manner. There is also such a thing as an “accountant’s rush”, which is when a super difficult return involving countless steps and calculations comes into balance. That’s a great feeling.
• What is the best dish you can cook? I can cook anything, but I have been experimenting with quesadillas lately, and the results have been fantastic!
• Favorite workout or sport to play? Golf with tennis being a close second.
• What is your go to karaoke song? We’ll assume this is shower Karaoke and I’ll go with Sing me Back Home by Merle Haggard and Jerry Garcia.
• What is your side gig/passion project/hobby? My passion project is landscaping. It must be a passion if I am on the stone driveway for hours pulling up weeds. I guess it could be madness, but I’ll go with passion!
• Desert Island Book: I love reading The Bible. The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky would be my second choice if I had two books in my carry-on and survived the plane crash (the desert island scenario).
